Inanda Mellberg Stanza

Stanza was born on May 5, 2022, by Inanda Mellberg Athol-Aramis by U ex Inanda Mellberg Nimla by Bolt (AI).

She has been shown once, and was then Best Junior, and she excels at scent-work, both blood tracking and nose-work.

She has had one litter, by  Engrace Sagewood of Danntrig, and she  was one of 10 puppies, one of which was stillborn, and one of whom was ridgeless.

She is expected to have a second litter in 2026

Inanda Mellberg Nimla by Bolt

I hadn’t really intended breeding in South Africa till I had been back here for a couple of years, but when Shantih came into season in late 2015 I decided to ”go for it”, and to use Excalibur Bolt, a stud dog with my very first pedigreed RR in his pedigree, many MANY generations back.

The resulting litter exceeded my expectations, with 10 bitch puppies whelped in January 2016, and they were so good and so even that I decided to keep Nimla. However, although very correct, she was not pick of the litter but rather pick of my heart; she’s independent but affectionate, and very loving.

With the years she’s also proved to have an excellent nose, and works very well; she’s focused and consistent, though she doesn’t have quite the prey drive of her grand-dam and her great grand-dam.
Nimla had her first litter in November 2018, by Clachan Boyaid; nine living puppies.

Her second litter was an AI with semen from Inanda Mellbrg Athol-Aramis by U; 11 living puppies, and I have decided to keep a boy, Ranston.

Inanda Mellberg Quaraa Hadiya C

By Clachan Boyaid ex Inanda Mellberd Shantih by Jukati, she had been booked months and months before Shantih even came into season in 2020, by a German PH living and working in northern Sweden.

However, Covid happened, and many many plans had to be changed. Dia’s litter brother still went to a hunting family in Luxemburg, but Dia ended up staying here with me.

And I really am so so pleased!

Inanda Mellberg Ranston

Although there have been numerous male dogs at IMK over the years, the last time that I actually went out and acquired one was in the last century. That was Churchill (Orangelad). Since then I bought back both Winston and Otto from puppy buyers who couldn’t quite cope with them, and when Otto died, in May 2020, I really missed having a boy around.

So when my R litter arrived, on March 24th 2021, I decided to keep Ranston. He’s by Inanda Mellberg Athol-Aramis by U ex Inanda Mellberg Nimla by Bolt, and it’s very first time ever I put an Inanda Mellberg dog to an Inanda Mellberg bitch. And extra special as Nimla has my very first registered RR (Praidas Salut) in her pedigree, albeit 7 generations back.

Ranston is a “high-energy” individual with a very good nose, but he is a very late developer (even for a Rhodesian Ridgeback), and as I write this (in 2023) he’s still lacking the focus and concentration necessary for a really good working dog.
