INANDA MELLBERG KENNELS

Rhodesian Ridgebacks out of Africa

Welcome to Inanda Mellberg Kennels, home to Rhodesian Ridgebacks bred for sound minds, noble bodies, and true companionship. Based in South Africa with roots stretching back to Sweden, our kennels carry over two decades of dedicated and ethical breeding experience.

A FEW FACTS ABOUT IMK

What began with two dogs — Churchill and Clementine — brought home to Sweden in 2002 has grown into a lifelong passion spanning two continents. From that first litter of three puppies in a Swedish farmhouse to a return to South African soil in 2014, Inanda Mellberg Kennels has been shaped by a simple belief: a truly great dog starts with health and temperament, not just looks.

Inanda is the Zulu word meaning “the beautiful place”.
Mellberg was the name of our founder’s farm in Sweden.
Together, the name honours both halves of our journey – Africa and Scandinavia, united by one shared love: The Rhodesian Ridgeback.

  • Health and temperament first. Physically and mentally sound dogs make the best companions — beauty is a welcome bonus, never the goal on its own.
  • Experience across continents. Bred and raised in both Sweden and South Africa, with breeding lines going back over 20 years.
  • Lifelong learning. Ongoing education through international courses, veterinary lectures, and breed specialist training keeps our approach current and responsible.

  • Member of KUSA (Kennel Union of Southern Africa)
